We began as a necessity rather than an idea. Our founder has a rare disease called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and an overlooked part of this awful disease is an extreme sensitivity to random items or ingredients. Finding unscented products which actually worked well became an ever growing challenge and from that challenge, Black Forest Rituals was born. We had already made the switch to making all food from scratch so progressing to soaps was a natural next step. Once we began, we found that we loved the entire process and the results were wonderful so we kept going. While our products all begin as unscented, we recognize that most of the world does not have the same restrictions so our approach to scented products has been to create our own blends of different essential oils to leave you unconsciously taking in the gently soothing smells throughout your day.
